Joe Putz

Joseph A. Putz, 67, of Macksburg, died Friday, June 6, 2025, at his home near Macksburg. No public services will be held. Online condolences can be given at www.powersfh.com.

Joseph Andrew Putz, son of Fred Andrew Putz and Elizabeth B. (Ehm) Putz, was born April 7, 1958, in Des Moines. He graduated from Southeast Warren High School in Liberty Center. He also did some training at DMACC in Des Moines for welding.

On July 2, 1977, Joe married Clara Schaefer in Lacona. They first settled near Liberty Center and Joe worked in Des Moines. He enjoyed raising livestock and being involved in farming over the years. Mostly, he was a floor installer for 25 years. He owned and operated J & A Flooring in Creston.

When he could, he enjoyed fishing and hunting and spending time with his grandkids. He retired in 2023 because of failing health.

Survivors include his wife Clara Putz; two daughters, Tracy (Roger) Wolfe of Macksburg and Jill (Jimmy) Hart of West Des Moines; son Andrew (Melissa Lang) Putz of Greenfield; three grandchildren, Jax Hart, Alexander Wolfe and Ava Wolfe; three sisters, Evelyn Buenting of Altoona, Gladys (Jim) McIntire of Marshalltown and Theresa (Neil) Rattray of Navarre, Florida; three brothers, Richard (Cindy) Putz of Omaha, Nebraska, Dale Putz of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, and Albert (Sherry) Putz of Lacona and many other extended family members.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter Jayda Hart.
