Betty Reed, 90, of Waukee, formerly of Lenox and Creston, died Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at Wesley on Grand Senior Living Community in Des Moines.

Betty Reed, 90, of Waukee, formerly of Lenox and Creston, died on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at Wesley on Grand Senior Living Community in Des Moines. A Celebration of Life service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 9, at Powers Funeral Home, 601 New York Ave., Creston. Services will be livestreamed. Pastor Mary O’Riley will officiate the service. Burial will be in the North Fairview Cemetery in Lenox. Open visitation will be from 1-5 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 3-5 p.m., Sunday, at Powers Funeral Home in Creston.

Betty Lois (Camp) Reed, daughter of Joseph Oliver Camp and Opal Mare (Bierce) Camp was born April 12, 1935, in Iowa City. She was educated in Creston schools.

In July 1950, Betty was united in marriage to Cecil Eugene Conley in Creston. She was a caregiver and a housekeeper for the elderly in Diagonal for 20 years, as well as being a homemaker for their six children. They divorced in 1965.

In 1967, Betty married Robert Carnahan in Grant City, Missouri. Betty helped raise Bob’s four kids. They lived and worked out of Diagonal. Bob died in 1971. Betty also helped raise grandkids Robert Conley and Betty Gina Lutz

Betty married Lewis Reed in Maryville, Missouri, May 11, 1973. They made their home on a farm east of Lenox. Betty helped raise Lewis’ kids. Betty worked at Papetti’s Egg Plant in Lenox and retired in her 70s.

She then moved to Stuart in 2010 to be closer to her family and eventually moved to Waukee in 2017 where she lived and helped raise her three great-grandchildren, Keagan, Oaklan and Arbor, with her granddaughter Angela.

Betty is survived by her four daughters, Donna Abel of Goldendale, Washington, Judy Conley Werner of Cambridge, Nebraska, Nancy (Steve) Lamaak of Winterset and Tina (Jim) Reed of Lenox; son Chester (Stacy) Conley of Hutto, Texas; 21 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; 22 great-great-grandchildren; three stepdaughters, Susan Thomlinson, Candy Carnahan and Lori Peterson and two sisters-in-law, Sandy Camp and Donna Marietta.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents; son William Leo Conley; two grandbabies, Regina Reed and Christopher Conley; four brothers: Gene, Joseph ”Lee,” Charles Camp and a brother at birth; three sisters: Darlene Emery, Juanita Turner and Grace Mae Camp and her son-in-law Ed Abel.
