Robert Jansen, 84, of Creston, died Monday, July 8, 2024, at Crest Haven Care Centre in Creston.

Robert Jansen, 84, of Creston, died Monday, July 8, 2024, at Crest Haven Care Centre in Creston. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 13, 2024, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Creston. Father Patrick Amedeka will officiate the service. Open visitation will be from 3–7 p.m., with family receiving friends from 5–7 p.m., Friday, July 12, at Powers Funeral Home in Creston. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery near Creston.

Robert James Jansen was born Dec. 24, 1939, the son of Alois and Ruby Jansen in Kossuth County. Bob graduated from Centralia High School in Centralia, Illinois, in 1957. He continued his education by attending Walton School of Commerce and graduating with a bachelor’s degree in accounting.

On June 20, 1961, Bob was united in marriage to Victoria Rose Trame at the Saint Rose Church in Saint Rose, Illinois. They lived in Washington, D.C. where he was employed with the F.B.I. in their accounting department. They later moved to Chicago, Illinois, where Bob worked with Kirby and Associates as a security consultant for seven years.

For one year he worked as a private investigator before returning to Chicago. He returned to Kirby and Associates for a short time before moving to Centralia and working for BNSF. While employed at BNSF, Bob worked as a roadmaster between Omaha, Nebraska, Creston and Kansas City, Missouri. He retired from the railroad in 1987 and settled in Creston. While in retirement, he worked for Lakeside Casino counting money for a short time.

Bob was a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Creston, Knights of Columbus, the High Lakes Shooting Club and was a former Elks member. He also served as a Union County Supervisor for four years.

Bob is survived by his daughter, Donna Jansen of Jacksonville, Florida; two sons, Ralph Jansen of Jacksonville, Florida, and David Jansen of Lenox; granddaughters, Megan (Andrew) Wolson and Lauren Jansen, both of Jacksonville, Florida, and his brother, Darrel “Butch” Jansen of Portage, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Victoria in 2015; daughter-in-law, Michelle; grandson, Bryan Jansen and a brother, Charles “Chuck” Jansen.
