Patricia Dianne Huffman was born June 13, 1943, in Waynesville, Missouri, to Carl Raymond Young and Lena Dell (Carter) Young. Dianne graduated from Mound City Community High School in Mound City, Missouri, in 1961; she continued her education by attending Northwest Missouri State University.

On Jan. 26, 1964, Dianne was united in marriage to Calvin Dean Huffman in front of the fireplace of her home in Mound City. They settled in Tuskegee, Alabama, where she was an active mother and homemaker while Calvin earned his master’s degree in the 1968-1969 academic year. They moved to Humboldt, Nebraska, where she continued to be an active mother and homemaker and later began working for Nebraska Public Power District as an office manager until her retirement in 1998. They moved to Creston in 2001.

Dianne was a woman who loved life and was intensely devoted to her family. She was a woman who gave much to the people around her and easily made lifelong friends. She was a competitive player of games, bridge being a particular favorite, which she indulged in for well over 45 years. She enjoyed many hobbies over the years, including spinning her own yarn, weaving, knitting, tatting, woodcarving and reading. Her tapestries won several awards for her creative work.

In later years, she started kayaking, sailing and enjoying her e-trike. Throughout her life she also was very passionate about Iowa and United States politics. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Creston, Creston P.E.O., a Cub Scout den mother, a member of the “Wild Wood Weavers” of Nebraska City and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Survivors include her husband, Calvin; her two sons, Prof. B. Todd (Noreen) Huffman of Oxford, England, and Troy (Theresa) Huffman of Aurora, Colorado; two grandchildren, William Stephens of Longmont, Colorado, and Matthew Stephens (fiancée Abigail Fennell) of Baltimore, Maryland.

Her parents and two brothers, Carl Jr. and Chris, preceded her in death.
