Connie was born Connie Kay Schwab on April 17, 1946, the daughter of Jesse Earl and Vivian Nadine (Huffman) Schwab in Greenfield. She graduated from Creston High School with the class of ‘63.

Over the years, Connie worked as a veterinary assistant, a seamstress, a telephone operator and retail sales clerk, all while raising her four boys. She eventually found her passion as an award winning, certified florist. After working with her dear friend, Carol Baudler, at Fountain Florist in Greenfield, Connie realized it was time for her dream of owning her own small business.

In 1986, Connie and husband, Eldon, opened 4 Season Florist in Glenwood. After a very successful run, they returned to Creston in 2004 to focus on family, gardens and volunteering with Friends of the Gibson Memorial Library. She took great pride in her work at SIRF, mainstreaming differently abled clients and helping with the Special Olympic Games.

After her husband Eldon’s passing in 2015, Connie moved to Omaha, Nebraska, to be more centrally located to her grandchildren. She enjoyed many years selling sweets at Cupcake Omaha in the Old Market.

Connie enjoyed being creative, crafting, helping others and fast cars.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Vivian Schwab and husband, Eldon Harden.

Connie will be greatly missed by her brother, Raymond “Gail” Schwab and his wife Verline of Glenwood; brother, Gregg Schwab and his wife Bev of Hutchison, Minnesota; her sons: Brett Foster and his husband Eric Lotzer of Omaha, Nebraska, Bart Foster and his wife Janette of Olathe, Kansas, Corey DeBord of West Des Moines and Corby DeBord of Las Vegas, Nevada, and stepson, Dan Harden and his wife Amanda of Creston. Connie dearly loved her 15 grandchildren and will be a guardian angel for Gavin, Bryn and Falyn DeBord, Isabella and Andrew Foster, Patrick (Amanda) Harden, Katie Batten, Kevin (friend Daisy) Harden, Riley Lumbard, Cecily Lumbard, Piper Lumbard; Jackilyn Campbell-Mills, Jarrett Kissell and Jillian and Skylar Harden and her five great-grandchildren: Ella, Eli, Paige, Carter and Evereleigh.

Connie’s easy laugh and warm heart will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
