Karen S. Magee, 79, of Creston, died Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2024, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.

Karen Magee, 79, of Creston, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2024, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Her life will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 27, at Powers Funeral Home in Creston. Pastor Chuck Spindler will officiate. Burial will be in the Diagonal Cemetery near Diagonal. Open visitation will be 2-7 p.m., with family receiving friends from 5-7 p.m., Friday, Jan. 26, at Powers Funeral Home.

Karen Sue Magee was born Feb. 5, 1944, to Everett Troy Fletcher and Alice A. (Wimer) Fletcher in Polk City. She attended and graduated in 1962 from Lincoln General High School in Lincoln, Nebraska.

On Sept. 14, 1961, Karen was united in marriage to Dale D. Magee in Grant City, Missouri. The two settled in Lincoln for three years. While living in Lincoln she worked at Kresge Variety Store. For a short time, they also lived in St. Joseph, Missouri. They settled in Creston in 1968. Karen was employed at Bunn-O-Matic from 1978 to 2009, when she retired as a QA inspector.

Karen leaves behind her husband, Dale Magee of Creston; son, Randy (fiancée Suzie) Magee of Las Vegas, Nevada; her daughters, Tana (Todd) Mullen of Des Moines; Andrea (Kevin) Brown of Port St. Lucie, Florida; her siblings: Peggy (Ted) Olson of Mitchellville, Richard Fletcher of Corning, Tom Fletcher of Benton, Steve (Jolene) Fletcher of Kellerton and Pat (Ronnie) Bird of Creston; three grandchildren: Shawn (Rachel) Magee of San Marcos, Texas, Jennifer (John) Murphy of Bondurant and Elizabeth (fiancé Chris) Mullen of Ankeny; three great-grandchildren: Charley Magee and Tyler and Thomas Murphy and many other family members.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Alice Fletcher; five brothers, Larry, John, David, Ed and Charlie Fletcher and her in-laws, Gerald and Virgie Magee.

Karen was a wonderful, kind, caring and very much loved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She will be missed more than words can say. We love you.
