Corey M. Brown

Corey Brown, 46, of Lorimor, died Monday, Dec. 25, 2023, following a traffic accident on Highway 92, east of Winterset. Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, at Powers Funeral Home in Creston. There will be no memorial gathering time scheduled.

Corey Matthew Brown was born Nov. 12, 1977, to Franklin Wayne Farlow and Nilda Michelle (Stonehocker) Brown in Winterset. Corey attended both East Union and Winterset schools.

On Aug. 8, 2006, Corey was united in marriage to Megan Marie Berry in Creston. They settled in Lorimor where they lived until their unfortunate house fire. Then he had been staying and caring for a friend with cancer in Creston.

While working, he had a variety of jobs including several different construction positions, some working for himself and some for others in the area. He also worked for P and L Recycling in a metal recycling position. Most recently, he operated his own business, “B and B Construction,” running an excavator doing farm tile work and other construction projects.

Corey is survived by his wife, Megan Brown of Lorimor; three children: Tristin Brown of Urbandale, Ashley Brown of Creston and Ryker Brown of Lorimor; three grandchildren: Kaiden Brown, Denver Boswell and Anniston Boswell; a brother, Joshua Brown of Omaha, Nebraska; a sister, Jaymie (Shane) Preston-Raney of Harrah, Oklahoma, and uncles, Mike Stonehocker of Avon Lake and John Stelplugh of Marceline, Missouri.

Corey was preceded in death by his parents, grandmother and great-grandmother.
