Dora Briner, 72, of Creston, died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2023, at her home.

Dora Briner, 72, of Creston, died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2023, at her home. A Celebration of Life service will be 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, at Powers Funeral Home, 601 New York Avenue, Creston. Pastor Jodi Rushing will officiate. The service will be livestreamed, found on a link in events under the obituary at powersfh.com. Open visitation will be from 2 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, with family receiving friends from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday before the service.

Dora May (Fisher) Briner was born July 27, 1951, the daughter of James C. Fisher and Mary Ann (Riegel) Fisher in Council Bluffs. She graduated from Red Oak High School and later went on to earn a licensed practical nurse degree.

On July 7, 1968, Dora married David S. Sparr in Red Oak. They settled and worked in Red Oak. Together they had a daughter, Lynne Sparr. Dora worked as a homemaker. David died April 6, 1971.

Later Dora married Roger Shaw. They lived and worked in the Red Oak area. To this union, two sons were born, Kenny and Kevin Shaw. Dora was a busy mother and homemaker. Dora and Roger later divorced.

On Dec. 31, 1982, Dora married Richard Briner in Creston. Together they had a son, Mike Briner. Dora continued as a homemaker. They lived most of their married life in Creston when the kids were in school. Dora went to work for Bunn-O-Matic in Creston in 1998. Dora also worked at Crest Haven Care Centre and later at Creston Specialty Care. She retired from Bunn-O-Matic, working in wiring and soldering.

Dora was a former member of the Creston Eagles Club and had been a part of bowling teams and leagues.

Survivors include her children: Lynne (Scott) Harry of Orient, Kenny (Karla) Shaw and Mike (Cindy) Briner, both of Creston; 10 grandchildren: Dillon Harry and Paige (Heith) Hise, Kolby (Ashlee) Shaw, Kimba Oliver, Kerwn Shaw (Mackenzee Ashcroft), Kayln (Connor Britten) Shaw, Devon (Nisan) Shaw and Caden, Connor and Carlee Briner; nine great-grandchildren: Levi Hays, Quinten and Haizlee Shaw, Isiaha Oliver, Ethan Taylor, Liam, Mira, Allison and Jasmine Shaw; sister-in-law, Ruth Owen of Stanton; and numerous other extended family members.

Dora was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, David Sparr and Richard Briner; a son, Kevin Shaw in 1997; a brother, Bill Fisher, and a niece, Angie Fisher as a child.
