Marvin L. Crouse, 90, of Clive, passed away Nov. 13, 2023, from complications related to Parkinsons Disease at Silvercrest of Woodlands Creek in Clive.

Marvin Lee Crouse, 90, of Clive, passed away Nov. 13, 2023, from complications related to Parkinsons Disease at Silvercrest of Woodlands Creek.

Marvin Lee Crouse was born Feb. 11, 1933, in Fort Dodge. He was the fifth of six sons born to Fred and Mildred (Johnson) Crouse. He attended rural schools, Zion Community School and Creston Schools.

In 1952, he was drafted into the Army and served on the front lines during the Korean Conflict. After his discharge, he worked for Herzberg Construction in Creston, Wm. Knudsen Construction in Des Moines, and later owned and operated his own trucking company, M. L. Crouse Trucks, Inc.

He married Patty White June 3, 1956, in Creston. They lived in Long Beach, California, briefly, then settled in the Beaverdale area until 1987 when they moved to Urbandale. They moved to Silvercrest of Woodlands Creek Assisted Living in Clive in March 2020.

Marvin was a member of VFW Post 1797 of Creston and Local #106 of the Carpenters Union. He remodeled houses, rebuilt salvage cars and loved classic cars. He enjoyed spending the winter in their motorhome in Arizona and Texas.

Marvin is survived by his wife of 67 years, Patty; daughter, Sherri Newell of Johnston; son, Robert (Kathy) Crouse of Waukee; granddaughters: Sarah Dunaway of Minnesota, Nikki Lloyd of Johnston, Susan Lloyd (A. J. Curfman) of Des Moines and Stephanie (Kyle) Evans of Holt, Missouri; 10 great-grandchildren: Logan and Lucas Dunaway, Jordan and Jerome Davis, Alex Bautista, Austin Lloyd, Jasmine and Jessica Curfman and Archer and Elliott Evans; one great-great-granddaughter, Kaelyn Dunaway; sister-in-law, Juanita Crouse of Peoria, Arizona; brother-in-law, Richard (Perk) White of Brighton, Colorado; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Keith (1997), Art and Carl (2001), Loren (2010) and David (2023) and great-granddaughter, Kimora Curfman in 2009.

Visitation will be 9-10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, at Iles Westover Chapel. Funeral service will follow at 10 a.m., with entombment following at Resthaven Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, memorial may be directed to the family for determination at a later date.

Marvin’s family extends a special thank you to all of the wonderful people at Woodlands Creek and the Unity Point Hospice, who provided Marvin with exceptional and loving care.
