Eldon Gene Bose was born March 23, 1940, to Elmer and Esther (Zabel) Bose in Smith Center, Kansas. The family moved from Athol, Kansas, to Lenox in 1954. Eldon graduated from Lenox High School in 1958. Following graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served on the U.S.S. Guadalupe from 1958 to 1962.

On Aug. 18, 1963, Eldon was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Nancy Wynn, at the United Presbyterian Church in Lenox. He attended American Institute of Business (AIB) and Drake University to study business. He worked in banking and finance throughout his life. He served as magistrate in Taylor County in the late 1980s.

Eldon and Nancy adopted Mike in 1965, Mendy in 1968 and Marla in 1971. He enjoyed attending their school activities and sporting events. He loved being a grandpa and spending time playing cards and games with the grandchildren. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing and raising livestock. He had probably watched every western show and movie ever made. John Wayne movies were his favorite. He loved a good joke and had a special talent of writing funny poems for life events.

He was active in the community as a member of Lenox City Council, Lenox Zoning Commission Board, Lenox Homes, Inc. Board, Lenox Centennial Planning Committee, Lenox Commercial Club officer, United Presbyterian Church trustee, Lenox Jaycee’s officer and Lenox American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Bose, of Lenox; son, Mike (Dorrie) Bose of Washington; daughters Mendy (Scott) Abell of Cromwell and Marla (Marvin) McFarland of Afton; grandchildren: Randy (Corina) Bose, Jesse Bose, Jenna Bose, Ashlee Bose, Garrett Abell and Ericka (Alex) Tamerius; stepgrandchild, Adam (Calrissa) McFarland; stepgreat- grandchildren Weston and Wylee McFarland; sister, Janice (Jeff) Felton of Cheyenne, Wyoming; sister-in-Law, Linda (Jim) Rice of Lenox; many cousins, nieces and nephews. We will cherish Eldon’s memory in our hearts. May he be at peace in God’s loving care.
