Betty Davis, 96, of Creston, died Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at Creston Specialty Care. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 9 at Powers Funeral Home in Creston. Pastor Jodi Rushing will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery in Creston. Open visitation will be 2- 7 p.m., with family receiving friends from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, June 8.

Betty Louise (Burich) Davis was born Jan. 31, 1927, to Albert and Jessie May (Hower) Burich in Creston. She was raised and lived all her life in Creston. She graduated from Cromwell High School in 1945.

On Oct. 5, 1947, Betty was united in marriage to Melvin Franklin Davis at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Betty was a telephone operator for three years and a homemaker. She was a member of the Creston United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, UTU Ladies Auxiliary and NARVRE. She volunteered at Greater Community Hospital Coffee Shop, Red Cross Bloodmobile and was a poll worker for many elections. Family was very important to her, she loved being outside, working in the garden, baking and she also loved traveling with her family.

Survivors include three sons, Mark (Gayle) Davis of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Philip (Judy) Davis and Wayne (Joy) Davis, both of Creston; six grandchildren: Angela (Erich) Vierkant of Kohler, Wisconsin, Brad (Julie) Davis of Baltimore, Maryland, Liza Cox of Fort Worth, Texas, Jessie Davis of Creston, Ben (Katy) Davis of Marion and Anne (Kaj) O’Mara of Cedar Rapids; 14 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Melvin in 2013, infant son Donald, her sister Pauline (John) Duke, brother Don (Lois) Burich, her in-laws, Burton and Bertha Davis and her sister-in-law, Geraldine Davis.
