Linda Schroeder, 73, of Creston, died Saturday, Feb. 4, 2023, at Creston Specialty Care. Celebration of life funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 3, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Creston. Burial will be 2 p.m. at Iowa Veterans Cemetery near Van Meter March 3. Open visitation will be from 2-7 p.m., with family to receive friends 5-7 p.m. Thursday, March 2 at Powers Funeral Home in Creston near the junction of highways 25 and 34.

Memorials can be given to the Care Initiatives Hospice or Trinity Lutheran Preschool Endowment fund. Online condolences can be given at www.powersfh.com.

Linda Lou Schroeder, daughter of Melvin Earl Stauffer and Darlene “Louise” (Knowlton) Stauffer, was born Nov. 1, 1949, in Concordia, Kansas. Linda graduated from Creston High School and went on to attend SWCC and later graduate from Buena Vista University with a bachelor of art degree in social work.

On July 27, 1968, Linda was united in marriage to Norman Lee Schroeder at Trinity Lutheran Church in Creston. They settled in Creston. Linda has worked a variety of different jobs throughout the years including working at Strand Theater, Gambles for her father, Vernie Drapery where she made curtains and Sernette’s.

She also worked as an active mother and homemaker. Following the children entering school she worked with Children and Family of Iowa, Family Ties, FADDS, Matura and working as a preschool teacher at Trinity Lutheran Preschool, retiring in 2011. Linda was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church.

Linda is survived by her daughter, Dena Chapman (Tim Irlbeck) of Creston; a brother, Richard (Tawny) Stauffer of Creston; a sister, Rebecca (Mike) Fucaloro of Des Moines and three grandchildren: Samuel Chapman (Myah Lanteri) of Ames, Maxwell Chapman of Creston and Chayla (Travis) Rutlage of Denver, Colorado; many nieces and nephews.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents; husband Norm Schroeder in 2021; son Chad in 2016 and father-in-law Henry (Mary) Schroeder.
