Johny Stephens, 68, of Bedford, formerly of Creston, died Thursday, Dec. 31, 2022, at Mercy One Hospital in Corning. A Celebration of Life Service will be at 6 p.m. Feb. 9, at Powers Funeral Home, 601 New York Avenue in Creston. Family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be at a later date.

Johny Stephens was born Feb. 9, 1954, the son of Robert L. and B. Joan (Hagerman) Stephens, in Mount Ayr. He was educated in East Union schools graduating with the class of 1972. He joined the United States Army in 1973 and was honorably discharged in 1979.

In 1980, Johny married Colleen Smith in Creston. To this union one daughter was born, Brandy Stephens. Colleen and Johny divorced in 1987.

Johny worked many years at Fansteel/Wellman Dynamics and Max Smith Construction.

In 2009, Johny married Annie (Roland) Hudson in Creston, they later divorced.

Johny was always playing a joke on someone or doing something crazy. He loved riding his Harley and living on the edge.

Johny is survived by his daughter, Brandy (Wade) Stephens Sick of Lorimor; grandchildren: Jaiden, Jarryn, Eastyn, Emersyn and Ellingten; girlfriend, Lori “Gizmo” Peters; three sisters, Betty Barratt, Marla Pistole and Theresa Hartman.

Johny was preceded in death by his parents, stepfather; two brothers, Robert and Gary and his former wives, Colleen and Annie.
