Lucia (Jeske) Stalcup, 85, passed away peacefully Dec. 4, 2022, in Kansas City, Missouri.

Visitation will be held 10-11 a.m, followed by funeral service starting at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 2003 NE Englewood Road, Kansas City. Interment will be 3:30 p.m. in Green Lawn Cemetery in Afton.

Lucia was born April 2, 1937, in Marjanka, Poland, to Rudolf and Emma Jeske. In 1952 at the age of 15, her father, mother, sisters Martha and Waldine and brothers Edmund and Siegfried all immigrated to the United States through the America Resettlement program under the Lutheran World Service. Two of her siblings did not immigrate at that time. Lucia’s sisters Amanda and Olga stayed. On Sept. 3, 1958, Lucia was nationalized as an American citizen.

Lucia is preceded in death by her parents Rudolf and Emma Jeske; her husband John; son Timothy; sister Amanda Hanish; brother in-law Bernard Hanish; brother Edmund Jeske; sister Olga Moestchen and brother in-law Hans Moestchen.

She is survived by her children: Theresa (Matthew) Green, Brenda (Mike) Wehmeir and Michael Stalcup; her grandchildren Alexandria (Tony) Haley, Christian Exposito, Marriann (Nathan) Weaver, Emma Green, Jack Green, Sarah Stalcup and Caleb Wehmeir; great-granddaughter Rosalie Haley; her sisters Martha McAuley and Waldina Greenslate; brother Seigfried Jeske and many other family members, including sister and brothers-in law, nieces, nephews, friends and caregivers, who will miss her dearly.
