Margeleen V. Naven

Creston

Margeleen “Marge” Viola (Spring) Naven, 99, of Creston, passed away Oct. 22, 2022, at Greenfield Manor in Greenfield, where she had resided the previous five weeks. Following cremation, there will be a private memorial and burial service for Ed and Marge in Prairie Rose Cemetery in Adams County.

Any memorials, if so desired, should be dedicated to the church or charity of giver’s choice.

Marge was born on Feb. 9, 1923, to John and Cora (Roberts) Spring on a farm near Guss in Taylor County. After graduating from Villisca High School with the class of 1941, she waited patiently for three years while her fiancé, Edward “Ed” served in W.W. II. Ed only had to wait one year in Heaven to be joined by his faithful wife to celebrate 77 years of marriage on Oct 27.

When Ed and Marge retired from farming, they moved to Lenox and enjoyed many years there. They were active in many community endeavors: Methodist Church, Lenox Rodeo, Christmas lighting display and attending school functions. Ed and Marge then resided at Crest Ridge Estates in Creston for 11 years and enjoyed playing cards regularly with other residents.

Marge leaves a legacy of candy cane cookies, butterhorn rolls and homemade noodles which will be forever cherished by the family.

Margeleen was preceded in death by Edward Aug. 17, 2021.

She is survived by their children: Sandra (Larry), Delores (Mark), Ronald (Linda) and Eldon (Anita); eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Special thanks to Diana Arevalo for the loving care she provided to Ed and Marge for the past several years. She had a special bond with them. The family will forever be grateful to her.
