Doris Irene (Roberts) Hance passed away on Sept. 26, 2022, at the age of 98. Doris was born in 1924 in Creston to Ray and Blanche (Foley) Roberts.

Doris moved to Jefferson with her family in 1956. She retired in 1999 after 25 years of service at the Jefferson Monument Works. She lived in her home for 63 years. She loved gardening, flowers, making quilts by hand, her many friends and playing in numerous bridge clubs (she was a tough competitor).

She volunteered for many organizations including the Presbyterian Church, Meals on Wheels, Greene County Medical Center and the Mahanay Bell Tower.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Blanche Roberts; one brother, Glen Roberts and two infant great-grandchildren, Evan Hance and Robbie McIntyre.

She will be mourned by her two sons, Steven (Patricia) Hance of Anamosa and Michael (Linda) Hance of Cypress, Texas; five grandchildren: Brad and Lindsay Hance of Cedar Rapids, Brian Hance of Anamosa, Alison and Reid McIntyre of Westminster, Colorado, Rachel and Hitesh Juneja of Dallas, Texas, and Nicole and Greg Cogan of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and seven great-grandchildren: Kaden and Colton Hance of Cedar Rapids, Remi and Riley McIntyre of Westminster, Colorado and Josiah, Andrew and Noah Juneja of Dallas, Texas.

The family would like to give special thanks to her caring neighbors and friends, especially Rod Hartwig, who helped her achieve her steadfast dream of remaining in her home of 63 years for as long as she could, a gift that she and her family deeply appreciate.

The family requests any gifts or donations be directed to First Presbyterian Church, Jefferson, Iowa.
