Creston

Ron Hampton, 83, of Creston, died Aug. 18, 2022, at his home. Celebration of Life services will be 11 a.m., Saturday Aug. 27 at Crest Baptist Church, 1211 North Poplar Street, Creston. Pastor Chuck Spindler will officiate. Services will be livestreamed. Private family burial will be in Murray Cemetery in Murray, Iowa. Open memorial visitation with family receiving friends will be from 10 – 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27 at Crest Baptist Church in Creston.

Ronald Lee Hampton was born Nov. 23, 1938, the son of Orville and Mergie Irene (Roland) Hampton in Iowa City. Ron graduated from Des Moines Technical High School with the class of 1957.

Ron was united in marriage to Rosalie Allen on Sept. 20, 1956, in Des Moines. They settled in Tucson, Arizona. Ron worked as a printer and later a truck driver until moving to Murray in 1978. He continued to drive truck with his wife Rosalie, and later became a custodian at Murray Elementary School until 2001. They moved to Creston in 2003. Ron was an active member of Crest Baptist Church in Creston.

Ron is survived by his wife, Rosalie; two daughters: Terri Hampton-Fiebke of Rochester, Minnesota, and Ronda (Roger) Aschan of Murray; son, Scott (Peggy) Hampton of Creston; sister, Linda (Don) Hasso of Johnston; 17 grandchildren: Benjamin (Bethann) Westfall, Andrew (Alyson) Westfall, Page (Benjamin) Rowley, Jennifer Hampton, Amber (Shannon) Kauffman, Michael Fauth, Nicole Hampton, Bre`anna (Chris) Petersen, Scott (Andrea) Hampton, Renee Webb, Hannah Hampton, Rici Hampton, Brandon (Carrie) Aschan, Bethany Aschan (Cliff Ritchie), Chrystal (Jesse) Henrichs, Darcy Aschan (Ryan Clark) and Travis (Katie) Aschan; 25 great-grandchildren and one great-granddaughter, Daisy Rowley.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Cindy Hampton in 2002; two brothers: Roy Dean and Russell (Ellen) Hampton and son-in-law, Jim Fiebke.
