Katherine “Kathy” Lee Thomas, 69, of Creston passed away Thursday, Jan. 6, 2022, at Iowa Methodist Hospital.
Kathy graduated from Mount Ayr Community High School in 1970 and attended Iowa Western Community that fall. She joined the Air Force in 1971. Kathy married Andrew Thomas on Jan. 28, 1979. Kathy and Andrew resided in Winter Garden, Florida, where both Kathy and Andrew worked for Walt Disney World. Kathy and Andrew shared their lives together for 41 years. Kathy worked for Walt Disney World for 40 years and had just retired in 2021 to move back to Iowa to be with family.
Kathy was loved by and will be dearly missed by her father, George Mathias Novak of Creston; sisters, Georgia Walter of Wilber, Nebraska, Susan Stein of Eagle Grove; brothers, James Novak of Tingley, Jerry Novak of Creston and Jack Novak of Creston and their spouses. She was loved and appreciated by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and in-laws.
Kathy was preceded in death by her husband Andrew Thomas and mother, La Retta Novak.
A celebration of life will be held June 4 in Creston at McKinley Park. Final interment will be when her ashes join those of her husband Andrew in Cape Cod, Massachusetts. In lieu of flowers people can make a donation to charity in honor of Kathy.
