Marvin Hulse, 81, of Creston, died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2022, at his home in Creston. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held 7 p.m. Thursday Jan. 13, 2022, at the Powers Funeral Home in Creston 601 New York Avenue. Services will be live streamed. Chris Hutt will officiate. Flag Presentation will be provided by Theodore J. Martens V.F.W. Post No. 1797. Open memorial visitation will 2 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Powers Funeral Home in Creston with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday. Memorials can be left for the family. Marvin Lee Hulse, son of William Eldredge Hulse and Bessie Eleanor (White) Hulse, was born May 14, 1940, in Iowa City, Iowa. He graduated from Bedford High School in 1958.

In 1964, Marvin was united in marriage to Pauline “Polly” Ellen Lesher in Gravity, Ia. They settled in Lenox where he worked construction in the Clarinda area. They later moved to Creston where Marvin began working at Wellman Dynamics and Vanmark. He later worked in a variety of construction positions including Creston Roofing and Boyd’s Construction. He later worked for GITS Manufacturing in the Maintenance Department followed by Walmart.

In 2004 Marvin was united in marriage to Margaret Marie Harrison in Creston, Iowa. They continued living in Creston. Marvin worked for Securitas as a security guard just prior to retirement in 2020.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Hulse of Creston; six children, Danny (wife Elaine) Hulse of Creston, Cristopher (wife Amy) Hulse of Boone, Ia., Wil (Andi) Hulse of Las Vegas, Nev., Christal (Davin) Hills of Des Moines, Ia., Angie (Brian) McDowell of Peru, Iowa. and Ashley (Randy) Simpson of Ridgeway, Missouri.; two sisters, Mary Clark and Betty Longfellow both of Bedford, Iowa.; thirteen grandchildren, Randi Hammons, Michael Hulse, Robyn Hulse (Cody Craig), Amayi Belew, Zachary Maben (Amber Keilman), Mason Hulse, Ryan Hulse, Peyton Hulse, Gabriella Hulse, Daniella Hoepker (Mark Hoepker), Devin Kolash, Shiane McKinney, Caleb McKinney, Anastasia Raines and Austin Simpson and seven great-grandchildren, Alice, Xander, Tobey, Cederick, Lincoln, Quinn and Kyden, Baby Maben that’s due in July 2022.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Polly, a brother Darryl Hulse, thee sisters Mable Briggs, Beulah (Shephard) Laboore, Doris Griffin and Lois Cooper and grandson-in-law Clint Hammons.
