Even in death, Kathy has shown love to all she knows and to others in need. She had very strong opinions and wasn’t afraid to express them. Kathy was special needs, and because of this there was zero pretension. You could be yourself around Kathy because all Kathy knew was how to be was herself. Kathy felt every emotion fully. If Kathy was excited, she felt it fully. If Kathy was angry, she felt it fully and If Kathy loved you, she loved fully. She didn’t let you go through life not knowing.

Kathy was an organ donor and Saturday, Nov. 20, 2021, Kathy was wheeled through the hospital floor with doctors and nurses on either side and was read notes from her family. The note from her mother talked about how she always said she wished she could be as smart as everyone else and do what everyone else could and help others like everyone else could and today, Kathy, it’s your day!

Today she gives of herself as only she would- FULLY. Today her time on earth is officially over, and she gives the blessing of second chances to others. She will be greatly missed.

Her spunk, her laughter, her obsession with Alabama football, her calling months before Christmas and her birthday to make sure you were indeed buying her something. Her cards with stickers covering the envelopes, and her text every single night to say goodnight with purple heart emojis. Kathy, you made an impact even when you didn’t see it, and when you felt you didn’t have what everyone else had. Today, Kathy, You’ve outdone us all!

Preceding Kathy in death was her father, Rev. Thomas Woodin in 2015; and her grandparents.

Kathy is survived by her mother, Bobi Woodin of Creston; her three brothers: Thomas (wife Susan) Woodin Jr. of Red Oak, Steve (wife Paula) Woodin of Des Moines and James (wife Kim) Woodin of Rainsville, Alabama; Kathy is also survived by 12 nieces and nephews; 22 great-nieces and nephews; a great-great-nephew; a bonus brother, Dean (wife Susan) McDaniel of Des Moines and her First United Methodist Church family and many friends.
