Janice “Janie” Weed, 78, of Orient, died Monday, Nov. 15, 2021, at EveryStep Hospice House in Creston. A Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date. Online condolences can be made at www.powersfh.com
Janice “Janie” Kay Weed, daughter of Everett Dale Weed and Phyllis Darlene (Brown) Weed, was born June 3, 1943, in Creston. She graduated from Orient Community High School in 1961. Janie worked for JC Penney as a photographer.
On June 26, 1965, Janie married Paul Burton Weyrens in Omaha, Nebraska. They lived and worked in Shakopee, Minnesota, and then in Pittsfield, Illinois, then moved to Orient. Janie and Paul divorced.
Janie earned her LPN certification in 1976 at Southwestern Community College in Creston.
October 6, 1978, Janie married Larry Bruce Kerr in Creston. They settled in Creston. Janie worked as a LPN first at the Creston Hospital, then with the Creston Manor, and later at Crest Haven Care Centre. Janie and Larry divorced. Janie continued to work in home health nursing and then retired after working with the Blood Center of Iowa.
Janie was a member of the Abundant Life Church in Creston.
Survivors include three daughters: Dawn Lovell of Creston, Tracy (Doug) Wilson of Arispe and Kerri Brunner of Spirit Lake; a son, Nathan (Amy) Kerr of Creston; two brothers, Larry (Marlene) Dale Weed of Richland Center, Wis. and Robert (Kristie) Campbell of Orient; four sisters: Kae (husband Jim) Carlson of Omaha, Neb., Cathie (husband Alan) Hudson of Creston, Deb (husband Ron) Gordon of Creston and Tina (husband Tonie) Thaden of Liberty, Mo.; two step-children, Tammy Byers of Newton and Bryan (Brandy) Kerr of Nacogdoches, Texas; 10 grandchildren: Ryan (Teki) Pierce, Chris (Trish) Pierce, Derek Fry, Deren (Hannah) Fry, Jessica (Aticus) Gassman, Jacob (Emma) Wilson, Addyson and Jackson Kerr, Addison and Aiden Snodgrass; 10 great-grandchildren; many other nieces, nephews and extended family.
Janie was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Robin Sevier.
