On Sunday, Oct. 24, 2021, David Hays, of Fontanelle, passed away at the Good Samaritan Home surrounded by his family.
David was a caring, giving man who was involved in many fields of work. Some knew him from his travels as a truck driver, some knew him from his barber skills, others knew him from his preaching, love of Christ, motorcycles or maybe even his wild spirit as a young man. If you knew him, you knew he love to give.
David was one of seven children, born to William Francis Hays and Jennie Marie (Bartoletti) Hays on February 23, 1949.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John Hays, husband to Carrie and Joe Hays, husband to Ann Hays; brother-in-law, Roger Gilbert, husband to Gerry. David has four living siblings: Marie (Jim) Burke, Lee Hays, Alan (Mary Ellen) Hays and Gerry Gilbert.
David was married to Mary Jane Anderson in 1969, until she went to be with God in 2011. They had three daughters: JoAnna (Clester) Graham, Anita (Charles Berry) Michael and Bobbi Lee Hays. From this union came nine grandchildren: Jami, Trevor, Noah, Dylan, Jordan, Levi, Clester, Ben and Presley; three great-grandchildren: Aydrian, Rylee and baby Graham.
Special thanks to all the nurses and staff at Fontanelle Good Samaritan Home and St. Croix Hospice, including his favorite niece “Lori Jean.” We are ever so grateful for his baby sister Gerry also.
