Steven A. Jensen was born July 4, 1949, in Adair County, the son of Ralph Jensen and Hazel (Plymesser) Jensen. He passed away Sunday, August 15, 2021, at Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Steven grew up in Greenfield able to ride his bike all over town, even taking his dog with him. Being born on the 4th, he thought every parade and 4th of July celebration were specifically celebrating him. Steven graduated from Greenfield High School in 1967.
During his freshman year, he was a member of the first undefeated wrestling team in the history of Greenfield High. He attended the University of Iowa, received his BA in 1971 and eventually received his Juris Doctor from Creighton University in 1974.
He started working with Clare Williamson in 1979 and was in private practice until his death. He was Greenfield City Attorney during that time for over 20 years.
He married Linda (Garside) Jotzke on December 16, 1989, in Tingley, creating a family of five. Steven and Linda remained dedicated to each other as he was an active parent and she worked by his side at the Jensen Law Office. Linda retired in 2019 due to declining health issues, but Steve remained faithful to his clients until the date of his death.
Steven was a member of the UMC, Greenfield Golf and Country Club, (known as Jesse to all his golfing friends), Adair County Bar Association, and the Iowa State Bar Association. His love for the outdoors, hunting, and fishing started in his early childhood. He took pride in being able to pass that love on to his nephews and sons.
Steven will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He will be deeply missed.
Steven was preceded in death by his parents and brother Dennis. He is survived by his best friend of over 60 years, Norman Schulenburg, Linda; children: Jennifer (Jeremy) Moore, Sam (Angela) Jotzke, Nick (Kim) Jotzke, grandchildren: Charlotte, Cameron, Taylor, Laura (Lou), and Anna; sister Pamela (Dean) Wiggins, and sister-in-law, Judy Jensen; other relatives and many friends.
