Phyllis Hoadley, 85, of Greenfield, passed away on Saturday, August 7, 2021, at the Good Samaritan Society in Fontanelle.
Phyllis Eileen Everling was born on May 24, 1936, to Mary Christine (Huffman) and Sherman Eugene Everling in Adams County.
Phyllis spent her early years in Adams and Adair County areas and later the family moved to a farm north of Greenfield.
On August 24, 1957, Phyllis Eileen Everling Lewis was united in marriage to Kenneth Edward Hoadley. The couple made their home in Greenfield and raised four sons: Neil, Ricky, Curtis, and Kent.
Phyllis is survived by her sons: Neil (Tommi) Hoadley, Hampton, Minnesota; Ricky Hoadley, Red Oak, Iowa; Curtis (Jodie) Hoadley, Hebron, Iowa; Kent (Gaylene) Colorado Springs, Colorado; grandchildren: Sieanna Rawlings (Rob Foss); sons: Skyler and Zayden Rawlings, daughters Kaycie, daughter Scarlett, and Kayla Foss; Autumn Hoadley, son Storm Hoadley; Tony (Hannah) Hoadley, daughters: Jemmaand Remi; Maggie (Parker) Culp, daughters: Raina and Pixie; Colton Hoadley; Kristin (Shane) Wilhelm; Kale Hoadley, son Koen; sisters: Janice Lauer, Greenfield, Myrna (Martin “ML”) Marnin, Mason City, Iowa; brother-in-law Richard “Dick” (Ann) Hoadley, Winterset, Iowa; sister-in-law Lois Hoadley, Greenfield; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Preceded in death by husband Kenneth Hoadley; parents Mary Christine Huffman Everling, and Sherman Eugene Everling; father- and mother-in-law Floyd and Stella Hoadley; stepmother-in-law Anna (Bolton) Hoadley; brothers-in-law: Kenneth “Burt” Lauer, Don Hoadley, Jack Hoadley; sisters-in-law: Eloise Hoadley Smith, Roberta “Bobbi” Hoadley Ehrenfried, Ruth Hoadley Lovell, Lona Hoadley Teter and Sara Hoadley Cramer.
Phyllis continued her love for learning by donating her body to Des Moines University to be studied in the medical department.
A Celebration of Life memorial service and luncheon will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at the Greenfield United Methodist Church.
