Rodney Mahn, 77, of Creston died peacefully, Friday, April 16, 2021, at his home in the Creston area. Visitation will be 2 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 21, 2021, at Powers Funeral Home in Creston, with family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. A Celebration of Life service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 22, 2021, at Powers Funeral Home in Creston. Pastor Tony Thurston will officiate. The service will also be livestreamed on Powers Funeral Home Facebook Page.

Rodney Paul Mahn, son of Paul Nelson Mahn and Doris Irene (Swanson) Mahn, was born Sept. 16, 1943, in Aurelia. He graduated from Lindstrom/Center City High School in 1961.

Following graduation, Rodney farmed with his parents in both Minnesota and Iowa before moving to Creston in 1967, where he continued to farm with his father.

On April 8, 1972, Rodney was united in marriage to Virginia Lea Froh at Salem Lutheran Church in Creston. They settled in the Creston area where he continued to farm. They were later divorced.

Rodney returned to education, attending Southwestern Community College, earning his nursing degree before working at Fontanelle Care Center, then later as a home health nurse for eight years prior to his retirement.

In 1998, Rodney was united in marriage to Linda Wessel at his home in the Creston area. Rodney was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church in Creston.

Survivors include his wife Linda Mahn of the Creston area; two daughters Melanie (Justin) Staver of Afton and Mary (Joe) Davidson of West Des Moines; three stepchildren: Tom (Lisa) Wessel Jr. of Buffalo, New York, Greg Wessel of Cleveland, Ohio and Jennifer Wessel of Whitefish, Montana; five grandchildren: Milo, Sidney and Avery Staver, Weston and Rowan Davidson; three step-grandchildren: Cash, Emmy and Tori Wessel; two step-great-grandchildren; two brothers Keith (Marilyn) Mahn of Chandler, Arizona and Jerry (Sandy) Mahn of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Rodney was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Kenneth Mahn.
