Jack Willett, 67, of Afton died Saturday, April 10, 2021, at Greater Regional Health in Creston.
Visitation will be 2 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at Powers Funeral Home in Creston, with family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, April 15, 2021, at Powers Funeral Home in Creston. Pastor Mary O’Riley will officiate. The service will also be livestreamed on Powers Funeral Home Facebook Page.

Jack Lavene Willett was born Jan. 19, 1954, in Osceola, to Calvin Lavene Willett and Viola Verna Loy. He grew up on the family farm south of Thayer and graduated from East Union High School in 1972. After graduation he bought his first farm.
In 1974, he was united in marriage to Suzy Hagen. Two daughters were born to this union: Tammy and Amy. The couple later divorced. Jack was a lifelong resident in the Thayer and Afton areas.
In 2004, he was united in marriage to Susan Kay Harding in Creston and at that time he gained two sons: Branden and Joe. Jack worked for Nurnberg Construction, Woodridge Construction, helped build Highway 169, worked at Des Moines Asphalt and Paving for 32 years and he also farmed. In 2015 he started Willett Farms trucking.
Survivors include his wife Susan Willett of Afton; four children: Tammy Willett of Afton, Amy Willett (Josh Kessler) of Afton, Branden (Danielle) Harding of Des Moines, Joe (Trish) Harding of Olathe, Kansas; faithful companion Murphy; two brothers Steven (Denice) Willett of Thayer, Dale (Julie) Willett of Harrisburg, South Dakota; sister Sharon (Russell) Kelley of Thayer; five grandchildren: Carly (Zac) Carlo of Carl, Caden Kistler, Jacie Jones, Kyson Kessler and Lucas Ramsey, all of Afton; sister-in-law Mary (Steve) Chamberlin of Lorimor, and brother-in-law John (Denise) Lauffer of Cedar Rapids.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents.
