Charlotte Bailey, 78, of Creston died Saturday, Feb. 27, 2021, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Celebration of Life services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, March 4, 2021, at Powers Funeral Home, 601 New York Ave. in Creston. Pastor Tony Thurston will officiate. The service will be livedstreamed on Powers Funeral Home Facebook page. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery south of Creston. Open visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, with family receiving friends from 5 to 7 Wednesday. Masks and social distancing are required.

Charlotte Ann (Miller) Bailey, daughter of John D. Miller and Opal M. (Pettit) Miller, was born May 16, 1942, in Zion. She graduated from Orient High School in 1960.

On Feb. 19, 1972, Charlotte married Geoffrey Keith Bailey in Orient. They settled, lived and worked all of their married life in Creston. Early on, Charlotte worked for Paul’s TV in Creston, then later for Wisconsin Resorts. Charlotte was also a homemaker. Additionally, she worked for Purolator in production, until they closed. Charlotte then worked for Bunn-O-Matic until retiring in 1978.

Charlotte was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Creston. Charlotte loved growing vegetable and flower gardens and enjoyed reading her cookbook collection. She especially loved spending time with and visiting with her family and friends.

Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Geoffrey Bailey of Creston; a daughter Susan Bailey (significant other Jim Price) of Osceola; a granddaughter, Melissa Austin; Melissa’s father, Shane Austin; sister Carolyn (Don) Duskin of Creston; brother Phillip Miller of Creston; and numerous other extended family members.

Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, her son Keith in 2015 and a brother Dean “Buzz” Miller in 2009.
