Creston

Lyle Scheel, 96, of Creston, entered eternal rest Saturday, Jan. 23, 2021, at Kavanaugh House in Des Moines. Funeral services will be Thursday, Jan. 28, 2021, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Creston. Rev. John Rutz will officiate. Public viewing will be 1 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2021, with family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorial contributions are directed to Trinity Lutheran Church and/or EveryStep Hospice House in Creston. Pearson Family Funeral Service and Cremation Center is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be shared at www.pearsonfuneralhomes.com.

Lyle Scheel was born in Sarpy County, Nebraska, April 14, 1924. He was the son of Paul Reinhardt Scheel and Marie (Wegener) Scheel. He was the youngest child in the family and had two brothers and one sister. Lyle was raised and educated in Sarpy County.

In 1940, he moved with his parents to a farm northeast of Creston. On Feb. 28, 1949, Lyle was united in marriage to Dorothy Louise Hepler in Waterloo. After their marriage, Lyle and Dorothy made their home northeast of Creston where Lyle resided for 71 years. One daughter, Linda was born to bless this union. Lyle had a passion for farming and was even able to help with the harvest in the Fall of 2020.

Lyle had a strong faith and was a faithful member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church for many years.

Preceding Lyle in death was his wife Dorothy in 2007, his brothers Fred Scheel and Rainhard (Wilda) Scheel, his sister Alice (Fred) Sturzenegger and his parents.

Lyle is survived by his daughter Linda (Richard) Hadley of Creston; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
