Dean Carson, 83, of Creston passed away Sunday, Jan. 10, 2021, at Southern Hills Speciality Care in Osceola. Celebration of Life services will be held at a later date.
Memorials are to Creston Animal Rescue Effort. Dean always loved animals.

Dean Theodore Carson was born Feb. 25, 1937, in Murray and was a son to Wayne T. and Gertrude A. Carson. Dean graduated from Murray High School.
In August 1972, Dean was united in marriage to Mary Elizabeth Darrow in Creston at Trinity Lutheran Church. They settled in Creston where he worked at Fareway for 44 years before retiring. Dean got his start in grocery working for Hy-Vee stores prior to working for Fareway.
Dean got to know many people working and always went out of his way to be friendly with everyone. His nickname was “Fareway Dean.”
He was always known for his love of animals, it didn’t matter if it was his outside cats or the local raccoons or possums, he fed them all.
Dean is survived by his daughter Jodi Fagen of Huxley; son Jerry (Vicki) Carson of Windsor Heights; sister-in-law Sue Thompson of Leon; six grandchildren: Jason Jungst of Elkhart, Jamie Jungst of Slater, Travis (Amber) Jungst of Slater and Garrett Fagen of Kansas City, Missouri; Julie (Bob) Malcolm of Mt. Ayr and Ronda (Chris) Evans of Diagonal and six great-grandchildren.
Dean was preceded in death by his wife Mary Carson, his parents, his brother Vaughn, his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Sharon and Merlyn Linthicum and a brother-in-law George Thompson.
