Karen Dudley, 72, of Creston died Nov. 30, 2020, at Creston Specialty Care in Creston. A Celebration of Life memorial service will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2021, at Powers Funeral Home, 601 New York Ave. in Creston. Masks and social distancing will be mandatory. The service will be livestreamed on Powers Funeral Home Facebook page. Pastor Mary O’Riley will officiate. Memorials may be directed to the family. Karen Denise (Roberts) Dudley, daughter of Clifford Wayne Roberts and Colleen Mae (Rife) Roberts, was born Dec. 18, 1947, in Effingham, Illinois. She graduated from Storm Lake High School in 1966 and furthered her education, attending cosmetology school.
Karen, in the course of her life, was blessed with four children. She worked in many different capacities, always making the best of her circumstances. She lived and worked in Storm Lake at the Tyson processing plant. She lived and worked in Denison, Sulfur Springs and Allerton, before moving to Creston in 1999. She was a busy homemaker and worked as a hairdresser, among her jobs.
Karen is survived by three sons: Tad (Teresa) Werneburg of Creston, Roger Werneburg Jr. of Cumberland and Jamie (Amanda) Werneburg of Osceola; a daughter, Melissa (Josh) Knapp of Creston; a brother Derald Roberts of Tennessee; 11 grandchildren: Alyssa (Tyler) Love, Zachary, Vanessa and Harley Sales, Sherry Dudley, Katherine Knapp, Bailey, Kaylyn and Morgan Werneburg, Jacob and Freya Werneburg; three great-grandchildren: Jonathan and Jacob Silence and Sebastian Love,.
Karen is preceded in death by her parents, sister Sheila Hoops in 2010, three grandchildren: Ciara W. Werneburg in 2001, Tad W. Werneburg Jr. in 2003 and Nicholas Stone in 2016.
