Merrill Dean Eggman, 85, of Cromwell died Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2020, at his home. Funeral Services will be 1:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 19, 2020, at Pearson Family Funeral Service and Cremation Center in Creston. The Rev. Delores Doench will officiate. A private family burial will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery at Cromwell. Open viewing will be 2 to 6 p.m., Friday, Dec. 18, 2020 at the funeral home. Merrill D. Eggman, son of Florence (Mullin) and Ronald Eggman, was born Feb. 20, 1935, in Adams County. He graduated from Cromwell High School in 1952. On Sept. 19, 1954, he married Lela Harrison in Cromwell. While in high school and continuing after graduation, he worked for the Atlantic Bottling Company driving a Coca-Cola truck. In 1957, Merrill and Lela began farming west of Cromwell. Merrill also sold Madison silos and Badger equipment.

Merrill was a member of Cromwell United Church of Christ and the Eagles. He and Lela resided at their current farm west of Cromwell where they raised their three children. Merrill valued hard-work and honesty. He enjoyed supporting his children’s 4-H and school activities. He was proud to live in a community where neighbors help neighbors. Merrill especially enjoyed the time he spent with his great grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Lela Eggman of Cromwell; two daughters Marilyn (Mark) Ide and Linda (Jeff) Lamb, both of Creston; one daughter-in-law Deb Eggman of Prescott; eight grandchildren: Dana (Brian) Helvie, Trent (LeAnn) Eggman, Trista (Bernie) Brazeau, Amanda (Miguel) Rangel-Schrank, Andrea (Jared) Hicks, Travis (Hannah) Eggman, Joel Lamb and Jordan Eggman; fifteen great grandchildren.

Merrill was preceded in death by his parents, his son Mark, and three brothers: Melvin, George and Donald.
