County budget scheduled for public hearing April 22

During Wednesday's meeting, Union County also approved updating a section of 130th Street.

A quiet meeting scheduled a public hearing which will decide the fiscal budget for the next year of Union County operations.

On April 22, Union County will host a public hearing for their 2026/27 budget, which would be effective July 1.

A public hearing was also held during the meeting, where the county approved a maintenance upgrade on a road close to Three Mile Lake. Through this approval, about 3,800 feet of 130th Street will be redone as it’s upgraded from a Level B to a Level A road.

Public comments to the hearing were in support for the change. Representatives from the High Lakes Outdoor Alliance visited the county supervisors during Wednesday’s meeting.

Making access roads to the lake easier to traverse would help with navigating the campgrounds and nearby High Lakes Shooting Range. The county approved the project for $58,057.97. High Lakes pledged $29,000 to the project.
