Worisek resigns from council

Due to a move outside of Ward 3, Jen Worisek is no longer able to represent the ward on Creston City Council. Worisek was elected in November and ran unopposed.

Ward 3 Representative Jen Worisek participated in her final Creston City Council meeting Tuesday after announcing her resignation. Worisek said she is selling her house and will no longer reside in Ward 3, meaning she can no longer be the Ward 3 representative.

Worisek was originally appointed to the Ward 3 council position in June 2024 following the resignation of Matt Levine. More recently, Worisek ran unopposed in the November 2025 elections, starting her new term in January.

“I really didn’t know what to expect walking into this, but honestly, I’ve really enjoyed it. It’s been a great learning experience,” Worisek said. “Everybody should at least try and be on a board or step up into a council seat to see what it’s like and have to answer those hard questions.”

The city is still working on how exactly to fill her position, but Worisek has a message for whoever it is.

“Do your own research and form your own opinions,” she said.

The next council person must be a resident of Ward 3, which encompasses the southwest corner of Creston. The term expires Dec. 31, 2029.
