Remember when...

John Reasoner, a New England Patriots fan, talks football ahead of Super Bowl 52 featuring the Patriots and the Philadelphia Eagles. This Sunday, the Patriots will play in Super Bowl 60, this time against the favored Seattle Seahawks at Levi Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

Maybe you were there when it happened or read about it the first time around, but some things are just worth repeating.

Today is Thursday, Feb. 5, 2026. There are 329 days remaining in the year. Here’s what the CNA reported on this week in history. Do you remember?

There was nobody better to clinch a state berth for Class 2A No. 8 Creston/Orient-Macksburg wrestling than Kaden Bolton Tuesday night. Following a win from Keaton Street at 145, who pinned Class 2A No. 9 Bondurant-Farrar’s Cain Cramblit in the second period for six crucial points, Bolton hit the mat donning the gold singlet with his team ahead 36-31. Bolton didn’t make his teammates or fans sweat out the results, taking down Bondurant’s Cooper Jones twice in the first period, ultimately leading to him closing the night with a pin at 1:17. The pin closed the night with a 42-31 score over Bondurant-Farrar, locking in Creston/O-M as one of the final eight teams standing in Class 2A. Perhaps the most noticeable thing about walking into Alta May’s Treasure Shoppe is its sheer ornateness. Carla Lawson describes her cozy shop, which opened Feb. 1 at 218 W. Montgomery St. in Creston, as a place offering things you wouldn’t find at your typical store. The store offers a variety of vintage and handmade jewelry — much of the latter made by Lawson herself — as well as gift baskets, antiques and collectibles.

As players and press stormed the field following the Denver Broncos’ 24-10 victory over the Carolina Panthers in Super Bowl 50, one Creston High School graduate was taking it all in from the stands. And he didn’t even need a ticket. Trent Bartling, a 2001 CHS graduate, manages ticket operations at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, the home field of the San Francisco 49ers and ground zero for this year’s Super Bowl. While he may have been working most of the game, he said the experience was likely the favorite of his professional career.
