Customers have been shopping around a massive renovation at Creston’s Walmart over the past couple months, but now the work is almost complete.
“We’re excited to share that our Walmart store is nearing completion of a total renovation designed to enhance both the shopping experience for our customers and the work environment for our associates,” Creston Walmart Store Manager Rex Toney said. “Updates include renovations to the store layout, restrooms, all service areas, exterior finishes, refrigeration systems, lighting and front-end registers.”
While it may take some time for customers to learn the store’s new layout, Toney said the remodel includes updates in every department to better align with customer shopping trends.

“Shoppers will notice improved layouts, expanded product offerings and easier access to popular items across all departments,” Toney said.
Perhaps one of the most sought after changes, a refinished parking lot, won’t be complete until the spring. Earlier this month, holes were patched with asphalt during the overnight hours. In early 2026, the parking lot will be undergoing a full re-paving.
Other store improvements include a refreshed look and feel, increased product selection and availability, brighter lighting and more open space throughout the store.
“These improvements also support the continued growth of our online grocery pickup and delivery services, providing even more options and convenience for customers,” Toney said.
In April, Walmart announced it was planning to remodel 10 of its 69 Iowa stores as a part of a larger goal to remodel 650 stores across the country.
Three weeks from today, Nov. 7, Walmart will host a Grand Re-Opening Celebration at 9 a.m. as the project will be completed.
“We look forward to welcoming our customers, associates and community partners to see the results of this investment,” Toney said.
