“The Road to Victory,” is this year’s homecoming theme for Creston.
Activities kick off for the public at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 21, with the annual volleybrawl game between the senior and junior classes at Creston High School. Volleybrawl will followed by the powderpuff game at high school stadium.
Students taking part in these events are reminded swearing, bad sportsmanship, arguing with officials, contact/tackling and tying of flags or cheating will result in immediate removal from the game.
Dress up days
Homecoming dress up days following this year’s theme are:
Monday, Sept. 22: Cozy Colorado - students can wear sweats or pajamas.
Tuesday, Sept. 23: Texas - cowboy and cowgirl themed attire is encouraged.
Wednesday, Sept. 24: New Jersey - wear your favorite jersey to school.
Thursday, Sept. 25: California - “Surf’s Up,” dress in your best sand and surf gear.
Friday, Sept. 26: Hometown Hero - Deck your outfit out in red and black Creston colors.
Class Competitions
Classes will compete starting at 8:30 a.m. Friday at the high school stadium in dodgeball, musical chairs and tug-of-war. Homecoming queen candidates will compete in a game of Hungry Hungry Hippos.
Pep Rallies
Pep rallies will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, at St. Malachy and 10 a.m. at Mayflower.
The Creston School pep rally starts at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 26, at the high school stadium. Then, at 11 a.m., move inside to the auditorium for the 2025 Hall of Fame inductions and coronation.
Hall of Fame inductees will be announced during homecoming week.
Queen candidates will be announced Sept. 12 after nominations have closed. For those interested in the crown bearer and flower girl positions in the queen’s court, sign up runs through Sept. 12 when names will be drawn.
The annual homecoming parade begins at 1:30 p.m. in Uptown Creston. Parade floats will line up at 1 p.m. The parade route has not been announced.
Queen’s calendar
On Monday, Sept. 21, from 7:50-8:10 a.m. queen candidates will welcome students and hand out candy in the high school commons.
Tuesday, candidates will enjoy recess from 11 a.m. to noon with the elementary students. Candidates will be back at the elementary school from 7:30-8:15 a.m. Wednesday for the queens’ meet and greet and from 8:30-10:45 a.m. Thursday, for the queens’ reading corner.
High school students can have lunch with the ladies from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday and from 11:50 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday, the ladies will be lunching at Creston Middle School.
Football Friday Night
The Creston Panthers will host Atlantic at 7 p.m. at the Creston High School stadium. Make sure to wear your school colors and cheer on the Panthers!
Dance
The homecoming dance is from 8 to 10 p.m. Saturday, in the high school commons.
Doors open up at 7:45 p.m. Tickets are $10 each or two for $15. If a student wishes to bring an out-of-town guest, they must be signed up with Maigen Carrall beginning Sept. 15.
The dance will feature music from an awesome DJ and a 360 photo booth.
