A Creston native is helping lead a new animated series on Apple TV+, set to premiere globally on Friday, Oct. 3.
Amy Higgins, CHS class of 1990, is the showrunner, co-executive producer and co-developer for Apple TV+’s newest series, “The Sisters Grimm.”
This animated fantasy adventure series is based off Michel Buckley’s New York Times bestselling book series of the same name, described as “a journey of adventure and heart about sleuth-solving sisters descended from the Brothers Grimm who, while very different, make a pretty great team.”
The show features a star-studded voice cast, including Ariel Winter as Sabrina, Leah Newman as Daphne, Laraine Newman as Relda, Abubakar Salim as Charming, Billy Harris as Puck and Harry Trevaldwyn as Mirror.
Higgins developed “The Sisters Grimm” alongside Erica Rothschild, a writer for Disney’s “Sofia the First.” Other key personnel include co-executive producers Buckley, Elliot Blake, Philip Alberstat, Steven Amato and Theresa Park. Sage Cotugno serves as supervising director.

This is far from Higgins’ first foray into the world of animated television. Since 2011, Higgins has written and produced for series including “Men at Work,” “Wander Over Yonder,” “Disney’s Star V. The Forces of Evil,” “Unikitty” and “Austin and Ally.”
Higgins was inducted into the Creston High School Hall of Fame in 2023 alongside the late Darwin West.
