Creston Police: Creston man charged with domestic assault

Nathan L. Novotny, 20, of Creston, was taken into custody 9:10 a.m. Aug. 24, in the 1500 block of West Townline Street and charged with interference with official acts and two counts of domestic abuse assault.

According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 8:24 a.m. Novotny assaulted a male and female living in the same household as him. The female victim was assaulted when Novotny pushed her and grabbed her by the wrists. The male victim was assaulted when Novotny pushed him and shoved his face with his fist.

Novotny was taken to the hospital for consuming a large amount of alprazolam, more of which was found at the scene. Novotny then left the hospital and went back to the residence where he knocked the front door down and left the residence before police arrived. He was located by officers a short time later outside of the dorms at Southwestern Community College. After a short struggle with officers, he was taken into custody.

Novotny was transported to the Union County Law Jail and held on $600 cash or surety bond.
