Western boutique joins Maple shops

The Creston Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon cutting for new business Wrenlee Rhae's Boutique on Tuesday.

A new business has joined the Uptown Creston community, with Wrenlee Rhae’s Boutique hosting a ribbon cutting Tuesday morning.

The boutique, which focuses on Western fashion, is a long-time dream of owner Shelby Bishop Fenton’s.

“I’ve wanted to do it since I was in high school, it’s just taken me a little longer,” Bishop Fenton said. “I wanted to bring a variety of different clothing to Creston, so I have a variety of women’s, men’s and children’s clothing.”

Named partly for her dog (Wrenlee) and herself (middle name Rhae), Bishop Fenton is excited to put a bit of herself into the community.

“We’re excited to welcome everyone and we’re excited to be part of the Creston community,” Bishop Fenton said. “[The store] couldn’t have been more perfect. I thought the space was going to be too big, but it’s not. It’s really perfect.”

During the opening ceremony, Creston Mayor Waylon Clayton, a long-time friend of Bishop Fenton’s, spoke.

“Shelby’s journey hasn’t been easy. She’s faced more than her fair share of challenges, setbacks that should have stopped her in her tracks, but she didn’t let them. She kept going, kept showing up,” Clayton said. “Today we’re not just opening a business, we’re opening a new chapter, one that Shelby built through grit, perseverance and a whole lot of heart. Shelby, I’m proud of you.”

Wrenlee Rhae’s Boutique is located at 104 N. Maple St. and is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
