Creston man charged for soliciting 14-year-old girl

Taylor, D. Smith, 31, of Creston was arrested Wednesday for enticing a minor.

A man was arrested Wednesday afternoon at McKinley Park while allegedly waiting for a 14-year-old girl to meet him for sexual activities.

According to a Creston Police report, Taylor D. Smith, 31, of Creston, had been messaging with an undercover officer on Reddit who had been posing as a young teen.

Smith sent explicit messages detailing sex acts as well as a photo of his genitalia. He sent one photo of himself, but his face was covered.

Messages show on Tuesday, June 17, Smith made plans to meet with the girl Wednesday at the park with the intention of sexual activities.

Officers apprehended Smith at the park who later made admissions regarding the incident. While speaking with Smith at the vehicle, the odor of marijuana was detected.

Smith admitted to there being paraphernalia, and a probable cause search conducted produced several items consistent with marijuana paraphernalia.

He was charged with enticing a minor under 16, a Class D felony, dissemination and exhibition of obscene material to minors and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was transported to the Union County jail where he is being held without bond until seeing a judge.
