It’s about to get easier for Creston residents to enjoy Green Valley State Park this summer as the bridge north of town will be reopening soon.
The bridge on Green Valley Road north of 150th has been closed for repairs since Oct. 8.
With approaches poured on April 26, the final project is to get the rails put up. Once this is done, the bridge will be operational once again.
According to Union County Secondary Roads, the hope is to start putting up the rails by the end of this week. Once started, the process takes a couple days.
If all goes to plan, the bridge could reopen as early as next week, but that’s not a guarantee.
As with many construction projects, the work went over the four to six month anticipated timeframe, being closed now for more than seven months.
The county’s TIF budget, property tax revenues from wind turbines in the area, helped pay for the work.
