Ethan L. Sheley, 21, of Cumberland, was taken into custody 4:39 p.m. Jan. 24, on a Union County warrant for two counts of forgery.
According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 12:30 p.m. Aug. 17, 2023, Sheley presented a fake $100 bill to pay for merchandise at Casey’s General Store on West Taylor Street. When employees refused to take the bill, Sheley went to his car and came back with a $50 bill, which was also fake. Sheley became angry after both bills were refused and left the store.
Each bill was marked with “replica” twice and also “this note is not legal, it is to be used for motion pictures.”
Sheley was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $10,000 cash or surety bond.

Shauna K. McClain, 44, of Creston, was taken into custody 9:24 p.m. Jan. 24, at Cottonwood and Townline streets on the charge of driving while suspended.
No information was available on the charge.
McClain was cited and released on a summons to appear.

Misael De Leon Jr., 32, of Lenox, was taken into custody 2:20 a.m. Jan. 25, at the Union County Law Enforcement Center on the charge of public intoxication.
According to a Creston Police report, at approximately 1:44 a.m. De Leon was reported after he attempted to ask another individual for a ride while appearing highly intoxicated.
Officers located De Leon on Montgomery Street in a public parking lot. He was observed to have impaired balance, bloodshot, watery eyes, slurred speech and the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person. He consented to a PBT, which indicated his BrAC to be .208%.
De Leon was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from on his own recognizance on a promise to appear.

At approximately 1:01 a.m. Jan. 25, Becky A. Bochniak, of Creston, reported sometime after 7 p.m. Jan. 24, the front tires of her 2009 Ford Focus had been slashed in the 400 block of North Pine Street.
Damage to the tires was estimated at $300.
