Creston Police report - Nov. 30, 2023

Ashton Olson, 32, of Creston was taken into custody 9:30 p.m. Nov. 29 at the Union County Law Enforcement Center on a Union County warrant for the charge of failure to appear on the original charge of driving while suspended or revoked.

According to Union County District Court documents, Olson was to appear in court Nov. 28 for a pre-trial conference and did not appear.

Olson was transported to the Union County Jail where he was released from after posting $300 cash or surety bond.

Larry D. Fernandez III, 24, of Creston, was taken into custody 1:11 a.m. Nov. 30 at the Union County Law Enforcement Center on the charges of OWI, first offense; harassment, first degree; possession of a controlled substance - marijuana, first offense and assault on persons in certain occupations.

According to a Creston Police report, Fernandez was the driver of a 2013 Ford Explorer involved in a one-vehicle accident. Fernandez had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person and admitted to consuming two or three alcoholic drinks. Officers were unable to complete an OWI investigation due to Fernandez not allowing officer’s to speak, switching from being argumentative and then emotionally crying.

Fernandez refused field sobriety testing and PBT. After being transported to the law enforcement center, he refused to provide a breath sample for chemical testing. Fernandez spit in the face of an officer and threated to physically assault another. He also attempted to remove the shackles he was placed in.

A search of Fernandez’s person after he was taken into custody resulted in officers locating a container his front pants pocket which contained THC wax.

Fernandez was transported to the Union County Jail and held on $5,000 cash or surety bond.
