Voters in the city of Arispe gave the vacant council seat to Tara Swierczek during a special election Tuesday, Jan. 31. Swierczek had 28 votes to Ernest Abell’s 10, according to unofficial results from the Union County Auditor’s office.
The election was held to fill the vacancy left by Roger Cheers when he was appointed mayor.
The polling place was open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Arispe United Methodist Church.
