Greater Regional acquires property in Greenfield

Greater Regional Health board scheduled a public hearing Monday Jan. 30 to review bids for work to open a clinic in Greenfield.

During the board’s meeting Monday, Chief Executive Officer Monte Neitzel said the property was acquired this fall. Depending upon bids and schedules, the clinic is not expected to open until spring 2024. During the meeting, the board approved a purchase of X-ray related equipment for the clinic.

Bids will also be reviewed for the clinic in Mount Ayr.

The board approved three public-related projects. One is between Greater Regional and the city of Creston to assist funding a director of housing position. Greater Regional will provide $20,000 over three years.

‘We will provide. A private entity will provide about $40,000 and the city will provide all the benefits. It will be a city employee,” Neitzel said.

The city of Creston, which has yet to act on the position, will hire the employee.

Greater Regional Health also is allowing Southwestern Community College and Creston Community School District use of its building known as the former Walmart location.

“Southwestern has been a strategic partner with us,” Netizel said. “We just want to make sure there is an agreement in place.” Neitzel said there are no plans to let other entities use the building.

The board also renewed its grant funding for the Bill Taylor Endowment for students studying nursing and emergency services. This is the third of five years of a $10,000 donation each year.
