The Image Enhancement Committee of the Creston Chamber of Commerce is again offering paint and painting supplies through the Paint Creston Program to a minimum of three Creston owner occupied homes in 2022. In the 12 years that the program has been in existence, 63 homes have been painted.
In the past, some homeowners have been hesitant to participate in the program for fear of increasing their home’s assessed value. According to a former Union County Assessor, “The assessment on a home will not raise if the home is painted or re-roofed contrary to popular belief.”
In order to be considered for the program, the home needs to be owner occupied, in the city limits of Creston and the home owner must have the ability to get the home painted by Oct. 12, 2022. In the past the painting or help with it has been done by the home owner, family and friends of the homeowner or organizations that the home owner is directly involved with.
Each interested homeowner needs to complete an application which is available at the chamber office or online at www.crestoniowachamber.com. The application is also be available on the chamber Facebook.

Each application and home will be reviewed and the homeowners will be contacted May 20th if their home will receive paint and supplies.
