This Sunday’s Lenten service will be at 5 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 702 W. Prairie St.
Rev. Cyndi Ripperger, pastor of the church, will lead the service while Rev. Tony Thurston, pastor at First Christian Church, will comment on Luke 19:28-40 which recounts Jesus’ final entry into Jerusalem. This event is usually referred to as Jesus’ triumphant entry.
Last week’s worship was about remembering Jesus issuing all an invitation to respond to his invitation to hear his call and follow him faithfully. He callus to be reconciled to him in faith and love. Ripperger called everyone present to come to Christ’s table of reconciliation. Fellowship and refreshments were held afterward.
This Sunday’s services are the final service for Lenten. Next Friday is Good Friday because of the good Jesus provided us all in his death upon the cross. Father Adam Westphal will lead the service and Rev. Evan McVann will share with his meditation of Luke 22:47 to 23:56 which is the account of Jesus’ death on the cross.
