Creston Police

Martin Dennis Kelly, 62, of Creston, was charged with harassment – first-degree, threaten forcible felony and possession of controlled substance, second offense, methamphetamine 9:56 p.m. Jan. 14 on West Adams Street.

According to a Creston Police report, Kelly threatened a male individual by going to his apartment and stating he wanted to kill him and “very well could.” The victim felt the threat was valid and was in fear. After the threat was made, a fire broke out in Kelly’s apartment. It was unclear if the fie was an accident or set intentionally. During the arrest, Kelly was found to be in possession of a small baggie with a substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine.

Kelly is being held in the Union County Jail on $4000 cash or surety bond.

Anthony Wikel reported his backpack missing from the Quality Inn Jan. 17. Wikel advised the backpack contained his wallet, pocket knife, ear buds and phone charger.

Estimated loss is $200.

Dwight Bowers reported a bench/tombstone damaged Jan. 17 at Graceland Cemetary.

Estimated damage is $3,500.
