Southern Iowa Storm wins the Sharp Family Memorial Baseball Tournament held Sunday, June 27 at Bill Sears Sports Complex. The tournament is held in memory of Kevin, Amy, Sterling and Adrianna Sharp each summer. This year featured a six-team, 12 and under age tournament. Teams participating were: NW Hardball and NW Expos both from Maryville, Missouri, Bedford, Southern Iowa Storm, I-35 Roadrunners and Creston. The Southern Iowa Storm won the tournament beating I-35 in the championship game. NW Hardball prevailed over Creston for third place and NW Expos beat Bedford in the fifth place game.

An Iowa native, John's newspaper career has mostly been in small-town weeklies from the Rocky Mountains to the Mississippi River. He first stint in Creston was from 2002 to 2005.
