June events at Green Valley State Park

Bird House Hike (June 19)

Join park staff at 10 a.m. for a two-mile hike on pavement to check the bluebird boxes. Get to see the birds and their babies living in the boxes and learn about their life! Meet in the campground by the check-in building.

Bird Eggs & Craft (June 19)

Bring the kids out to learn about the different types of bird eggs, event starts at 2 p.m. Learn how to blow out an egg, and then create a fun bird’s egg craft! Meet in the campground by the check-in building.

Walk in the Woods part 2 (June 20)

Join park staff at 2 p.m. for a two mile hike on the grass trail in the woods. Meet in the parking lot at the south shelter house.

Campfire Coffee (June 21)

Join park staff each Monday at 8 a.m. to discuss weekly DNR news and natural resource topics. Coffee will be provided. Meet at the north shelter house.

Lighted Kayaking (June 25)

Light up your kayak or canoe and join park staff for a guided paddle evening event starting at 9 p.m. The group will leave the park beach at 9 p.m. There are a limited number of kayaks to borrow from the park, so call 641-782-5131 and leave a message to reserve a kayak.

Kid’s Fishing Clinic (June 26)

This free fishing clinic for children under the age of 16 runs from 9 a.m. to noon June 26. It will be held at Green Valley State Park at the campground jetty. A morning of fishing will be finished with door prizes for attending children. Please have children under 13 years of age accompanied by an adult.

Aquatic Plants Kayaking (June 27)

Join park staff at 11 a.m. for a two-mile paddle to learn about different aquatic plants in Green Valley Lake. We will meet at the park beach.
